My brother came in the house & said who hit home runs for the Red Sox. I said it's easier to tell you who didn't! 6 home runs led the way to an easy victory against the Rays & put the Sox in a statistical tie for the AL East lead.
The first inning 3-run homer by David Ortiz was the biggest hit of the night for me. It showed the Rays that the Red Sox could capitalize on mistakes by Kazmir & not let him wiggle off the hook. It also showed to Big Papi himself that, despite his injured wrist, his power stroke is still there. The rest of the runs were gravy.
Tampa Bay is one of the worst venues to see a ballgame. Jason Bay's catwalk HR is one example why. Like the Metrodome in Minnesota, a park that allows fair balls to strike objects during a game has problems. At least everything worked to the Red Sox favor last night.
One more win & we can leave Tampa Bay no worse than with a share of the AL East lead. Look for Beckett to have a big game tonight.
