While all the baseball experts are marveling at the Tampa Bay Rays season the home town Sox have had quite a season of their own.
First, we had David Ortiz go down for the month of June. Up steps J.D. Drew who had a huge month offensively. His play in June earned him a spot in the All-Star game where he garnered the MVP award.
Now we have the exit of Manny Ramirez in August. Up steps Kevin Youkilis who is having an August similar to Drew's June. Not only is Youk hitting in critical situations, he has found a power swing with several HR's lately. Last night was a great example of his skills. Offensively, he gets 3 hits including a key HR with 3 RBI. In the field he starts at 3rd, moves to 1st, then goes back to 3rd to make some big plays at the end of the game. This guy has to be the MVP hands down.
Lesson for today: Let's not forget about the season the Red Sox are putting together.
