Varitek and Cash

As the Red Sox start a critical road trip with 9 games against division opponents, I thought it would be good to lighten the mood & "goof" on the catchers a little -- Jason Varitek & Kevin Cash.

Question: Who will reach a .220 batting average by the end of the season? Both Varitek & Cash are under that number now. Little or no production is coming from the 8th or 9th position that they occupy in the batter order.

On the positive side, both are excellent receivers. Varitek calls a great game & at times looks like Youk by pulling balls out of the dirt. He helps the entire pitching staff with their confidence just knowing that he is behind the plate.

Cash does the impossible by catching Wakefield's knuckleball every 5th day. (Get off the DL soon, Wake.) Very few past balls this year with Cash behind the plate. He also possesses a great throwing arm.

Add your comment to weigh-in on who will hit for higher average this year. Maybe the catchers will get hot on this road trip.
