A win over the Yankees is always a good thing, especially during a pennant race. Add a complete flop by A-Rod offensively & defensively even makes it better. Fans gave him the Bronx cheer several times late in the game for not performing under pressure.
As a fan, you have to be impressed over the past few weeks on how the Red Sox are getting contributions from everyone in the lineup. Ellsbury has only one hit last night, but that one hit drives in a run. Pedroia turns a beautiful double-play to nail A-Rod at first. Ortiz contributes 2 doubles & 2 walks. Youk continues his RBI march to 100. Bay adds 2 more RBI. Lowrie stays steady at SS or 3B, even though he made his 1st error last night. Bailey, Crisp & Cash contribute 7 hits from the 7-8-9 spots.
With Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett ready to return to the fold in the near future you have to like the Red Sox chances of making the playoffs. Tampa Bay's loss at home moves the Sox to within 4 games in the loss column.
The Sox are peaking at the right time of year.
