The Red Sox stay hot against contenders as they take 2 of 3 from Chicago this weekend. Not much offense today, though, as they lose 4-2. We could use Youk back in the line-up.
As long as we keep winning series, it will be hard for Minnesota or Chicago to catch us for the Wild Card with 20+ games left in September. The Yankees are on life support, but could help us by winning a few games this week in Tampa Bay. All it will take is one bad series by the Rays & we are right back in the AL East race.
However, as Eck said on the pre-game show Friday, the focus for now is keeping the lead in the Wild Card race.
