Good Manny, Bad Manny

"Good Manny" took the field on Sunday night & went 3-5 with 2 doubles & 2 RBI.  He helped the Red Sox beat the Yankees 9-2 in the series finale.  Question: Will we see Good Manny for the remainder of this season & for the playoffs?

Manny's alter ego, "Bad Manny", was around more of this weekend than Good Manny.  Bad Manny did a bunch of things, like:

- Ruin the return of Big Papi on Friday night.  Instead of having the best 3-4 hitters in the league back in the lineup, we had 3 without 4 due to a mysterious knee injury that was undetectable by an MRI.  Bad Manny!

- Ruin a great pitching performance by Josh Beckett in a tough 1-0 loss which his bat could have helped.  Bad Manny!

- Ruin a win on Sunday night with great pitching by Jon Lester due to the controversy swirling around his pre-game comments of unhappiness at $20 million a year.  Bad Manny!

It's hard for the average fan to feel sorry that Bad Manny will ONLY make $20 million for each of the next 2 option seasons instead of $25 million a year somewhere else.  Most people I know are wondering how they are going to afford to heat their home this winter.

Let's hope that the on-the-field performance of Good Manny is worth putting up with the off-the-field antics of Bad Manny.
