Drew Comes Through

Last night's win is one of those that could go a long way. No David Ortiz in the lineup. Josh Beckett pitching very well, but losing 1-0 for most of the game. The opposing pitcher takes a no-hitter into the 7th. It looked like another hostile road loss in the making.

J.D. Drew changed that with his 2-run double to left center. The Sox never looked back after that & won handily 5-1 to end their road trip on a positive note. Solid defense, timely hitting & good pitching -- sounds like a good recipe for more wins.

This upcoming home stand for the Sox will be critical to erasing a few games from the Tampa Bay lead in the division. With Longoria out on the 15-day DL the Rays will lose their best run producer for the next few weeks. This is the time for the Red Sox to make hay in the standings.

Notice that the Yankees are irrelevant at this point. Ha! Ha!
