The Case For Tampering Charges Against Boras

Like most of you, I heard non-stop report after report about the Manny deal over the weekend.  Let's be sure we have the right story.

The Red Sox did not trade Manny Ramirez.  Manny Ramirez quit on his teammates & the organization.  He should have been fired without severance pay.

But thanks to Scott Boras & the MLB Players Association he gets to go to LA-LA-land with full pay.  One sports program indicated that Boras contacted the Red Sox one hour after the trade went down.  Boras wanted the Red Sox to know that they could bid on Manny's services in the future & he would make sure that Manny would not quit on them.  Doesn't that border on tampering charges?  Sounds like insider trading at the least.  Even Martha Stewart went to the big house for that.

Manny & Boras are reminders of everything wrong about this game.  In fact, I thought Theo was so restrained & classy in his press conference about the trade that I wanted to say "Theo, it's OK.  Tell everyone that you fired Manny for being a self-centered, individualistic money-grabber that became a cancer in the locker room."  Manny & Boras should get along fine.  Two opportunistic bozos.

Wouldn't it be great if no one signed Manny after the season for the big money he expects.  We can only hope.  That's my last word on Manny.
